A love note to Maine

A love note to Maine

I moved to Maine 21 years ago from Washington, DC, to be closer to my college bestie. She has since moved to three other places and somehow, I stayed.

I stayed for the serenity of the landscape.

I stayed for dog walks on Willard Beach.

I stayed for the ease and access and simplicity.

I stayed for the pace.

I stayed for no traffic reports.

I stayed for First Fridays.

I stayed for Eventide and back then, Boru and Rira.

I stayed to be outdoors every day.

I stayed for the choice of lakes or ocean or mountains or woods.

I stayed for the potential and for the growth.

I stayed for all the awards and attention.

I stayed to raise children.

I stayed to photograph inspiring love stories all across the state.

I stayed for family.

I stayed for safety.

I stayed to watch cotton candy skies over tall pines in any season.

I stayed for fresh air.

I stayed for ferry rides.

I stayed for live music and art exhibits and farm to table features.

I stayed to help you find a home here.

I stayed.

Mostly everything else in my life has changed.

Except Maine.

Maine has been my longest love.
