Just before signing paperwork at the closing, buyers will tour the property they are purchasing with their agent in what is formally called the final walk-through. It is an important last step to ensure that the property is empty, broom-clean and in the same condition as outlined in the sales agreement.
Occasionally, the seller will be present at the walk-through if requested or under special circumstances.
This was one of those closings; the seller of this working farm and her family, the buyers and their family, and both agents were present for the walk-through and a home closing (also called on-location closing or remote closing), and then enjoyed a homemade meal, wine and photos. It is not the norm, but sure is heartwarming when transferring ownership of a beloved property goes off-script.
