Laurie Dorr started Finally Home, a senior dog rescue, in her North Yarmouth home five years ago. Since then, she has provided a warm and loving "retirement" home for up to 14 dogs to live out the end of their days after spending extended time at shelters or whose owners are no longer able to care for them due to health or financial strain.
I donate a portion from each of my commissions toward Legacy's Legacy, our in-house charity which helps support organizations in our local communities. One client of mine requested that her donation specifically go to Finally Home. My children and I recently had the pleasure of stopping by to say hello to Laurie and her pack with our $500 donation.
We were so touched by Laurie's warmth, by the cozy options for these gentle souls to sleep, and all of the snuggles the pups offered to us. Our hearts were both full and broken as we left, wanting to stay longer and wishing we could do more.
